About Us

Soupe et compagnie des Pays-d’en-Haut, formerly known as Soupe populaire de la Vallée de Saint-Sauveur, has planned and organized food support for those in need in the Pays-d’en-Haut regional county municipality since 1994.

Our mission, however, does not stop there. In addition to the soup kitchen, we seek to reach isolated individuals – including the elderly and any other person seeking to escape from isolation – by offering a welcoming space where they can find a friend, a listening ear, and various forms of social support.

Our volunteers are highly attuned to recognizing difficult situations and directing clients in need to helping resources. Soupe et compagnie also supports social and citizen involvement by mobilizing volunteers from among our participants so they can regain control over their lives.

To achieve our extended mission, Soupe et compagnie collects funds and goods through public subscriptions and any other means possible, using all donations in the best interest of the people who benefit from our services. If you wish, you can donate on site, by mail or online.

Annually, Soupe et compagnie represents…

  • Over 12,000 community meals prepared and served to our users in Saint-Sauveur, Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard and Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs;
  • Over 400 meals prepared for non-profit organizations;
  • Over 250 meals served during the Christmas Dinner;
  • Over 200 meals served during our Sugar Shack;
  • Over 900 meals offered in neighbouring schools;
  • Over 10,000 hours of volunteering;
  • Over 1,000 hours of community/compensatory work.

Territory served

Though the main Soupe et compagnie headquarters are located in the basement of Saint-Sauveur Church, community meals are also served in the municipalities of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard and Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs.

Testimonials…

Harlean, participant

« I want to say how much, here at Habitat St-Sauveur, we eagerly await the comforting meals sent to us by your volunteers each Tuesday ever since COVID-19 has forced us to remain in our apartments. Many seniors at Habitat have used the services and are all highly satisfied. I am 82 years old and am a caregiver to a roommate who will be 90 in January 2021. Since Soupe et compagnie has started delivering us meals 2-3 times per week, we share our lunch, and at dinner, we share the warm soup and the dessert. This gives us time to play a game of Jok-R-ummy and the loser prepares the coffee for the next morning. All that to say, these people are angels to me and to many other seniors. If I could, I would take care of them to keep them around for a long time, but my hands are quite full, so I accept that our Soup Angels take good care of their seniors. Thanks for reading my message. »

Cindie and Camélia, participants

« I wish to warmly thank your wonderful team from the bottom of my heart and to express my sincere gratitude for the considerable support you give us, which has made a real difference in my life and that of my daughter. Thank you for being there, thank you for existing as an organization. »

Suzanne Carrière, volunteer

« For me, volunteering is a moment to stop and shift the focus away from ourselves, to devote time and energy to those who could benefit from it.

 It’s being absorbed in a task where helping others, kindness, and selfless giving take over. It is a highly stimulating gesture in this consumerist era dominated by the ‘every man for himself’ mentality. »
